HOMEE provides a platform for Heritage to introduce the environmental and social elements of its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, to stakeholders in its operating communities. HOMEE supports activities that drive environmental change and help protect our #OneEarth – Our HOME.
Heritage Outreach to Maximise Environmental Excellence (HOMEE) Programme
In 2023, Heritage will host a series of projects under the HOMEE programme within its operating communities, these include: an Upcycling Art Competition for Primary Schools and; an Environmental Photo & Essay Competition for Secondary Schools. Through the theme of “One Earth – Our Home”, both competitions are designed to spotlight the three (3) major environmental issues of the decade – climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss. These competitions also allow students to highlight their creative talents and express their views on these critical environmental issues.
The HOMEE programme also encompasses an environmental awareness component facilitated by the Heritage Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) staff. Schools and community groups within the educational districts of St. Patrick, Victoria and South-East, will benefit from this component of the programme. It is expected that the beneficiaries of this programme will become environmental advocates for their communities.
The goals and objectives of the HOMEE initiative are to:
- Align with Heritage’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) thrust, specifically the environmental component of the company’s ESG strategy.
- Aid in telling the Heritage story and the company’s commitment to the environment and sustainable development of its operating communities.
- Align with the Heritage INSPIRE Values, the collective environmental needs of neighbouring communities and that of the ever-evolving local and international landscape.
- Forge relationships with a broad cross-section of the community and national stakeholders interested in the environment.
